About Mr. Stewart
Leonard (“Len”) Stewart is Vice President - Assistant General Counsel at Fidelity Information Services, LLC (“FIS”), which is a leading provider of technology solutions for financial institutions and businesses of all sizes and across any industry globally. Len advises the Operating Leadership Team (“OLT”)(C-level Executives) and the Senior Vice President - Deputy General Counsel for IP and Litigation regarding technology transactions, software licenses, open source software (“OSS”) license adherence, and generative AI governance, establishing and executing a patent filing, portfolio management, and risk mitigation strategy related to digital, AI, and financial services technologies (“fintech”), and managing the deployment and use of an IP portfolio and records management system.
In a previous role as Senior Corporate Counsel for Caterpillar Digital (“Digital”), Len provided legal counsel, primarily supporting the Vice President of Digital, regarding IP, data, and commercial risks associated with developing and commercializing digital and data analytics products, services, technologies, and solutions. Most excitingly, Len was invited by a team of innovators to join their team to brainstorm a social media
solution for connecting content creators globally. They developed an algorithm that resulted in US patent number 11,244,023. Prior to Digital, Len was located in Beijing, China in the Asia Pacific IP Office of Caterpillar (China) Investment Co., Ltd. From Beijing, Len supported global patent obtaining and IP portfolio and risk management for the Asia Pacific region, including China, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia.
Len received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University (LSU), an M.S. in Applied Economics from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), and a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame. Len lives in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife and two sons.
